Martha E. Kocher, age 92
Of Newton, IL passed away at 7:40 PM –Friday, February 1, 2013 at Newton Rest Haven in Newton, IL.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM – Thursday, February 7, 2013 at St Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ste. Marie, IL with Father Al Kemme celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ste. Marie, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM – Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the church. In loving memory of Martha, memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Altar Society or the Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932 Ladies Auxiliary. Arrangements are under the care of the

Martha was born on August 22, 1920 the daughter of Edward and Elva (Smith) Drewes in Clay County, Illinois. On February 4, 1947 she married Theodore A. Kocher at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, IL.
Martha enjoyed being a farmer’s wife and a mother to her three children. She worked for several years as a library clerk at East Junior High School in Ste. Marie, IL. Martha was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Mary’s altar society. She was a charter member of the Ste. Marie American Legion #932 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as sewing and reading.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sheryl Paul, and a brother George Drewes.
